There is some kind of a general idea which paints a picture that law school is equated to hell. Is this really the case? If it is, then what makes it hell? Why is it hell? Well, I am currently in law school. And I beg to differ. I would like to say that the ideas of law school being like hell is just that, an idea. Nothing more and nothing less.

How could I say this? Well, I believe that all courses in college has its ups and downs. They have their own “hell” moments. And I believe that law school is just like that, a college course, or rather post graduate course, with “hell” moments.

Yes, I admit that law school is hard. But I believe that it is hard because people make it hard, add to that the psychological effect of the thought that law school is hard. Law students have a hard time in law school because they think it is hard. Their thoughts got the best of them. They think that law school is hard, as such it becomes hard. And I am a victim of such occurence.

Another factor which makes law school hard are the professors in which they have the students at their mercy. They decide who to pass and who to flunk. And since recitations are the basis of the grade, then the grade you get is subject to the professors view on how well you did. You can never please a law professor as much as you want to please them.

Add to that the volumes of books and laws and cases that you would be reading.

But I still think that law school isn’t hell. It’s just a matter of time management and a positive outlook on the subject. Time management because you just have to manage your time to include some kind of entertainment in between study times in order not to feel that you are actually studying.

A positive outlook because your mindset changes everything.  If you think that law school is just any other course and if you think that law school is quite easy and enjoyable, then it will be enjoyable and easy.
