Movie Review | Prince of Persia: Sands of Time
Prince of Persia: Sands of Time is based on a video game where a young prince named Dastan (Jake Gyllenhaal), with a princess from the sacred city of Alamut named Tamina (Gemma Arterton), is on a quest to stop the King’s adviser & brother, Nizam (Ben Kingsley), from going to the past to prevent he’s brother, King Sharaman (Ronald Pickup) from becoming the King. By piercing the Sandglass with the Dagger of Time to release the Sands of Time, one is able to go to the past without any time limit, but as the Sandglass slowly cracks a sandstorm threatens to destroy all of Alamut.
The movie Prince of Persia: Sands of Time was amazing. All the special effects & the stunts are quite impressive. The story is very good & interesting that it catches your attention right away. I applaud Jake Gyllenhaal for going to such extremes to portray his character Dastan, perfectly. It was a movie worth watching & I would recommend everyone to see it. I hope that there would be a sequel to this, but the ending doesn’t seem to give away any hint of a next movie. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
Since Prince of Persia: Sands of Time is just one of the installments on the Prince of Persia video game series, I’m quite hopeful that a sequel to the movie will eventually be made. High hopes indeed.
There are talks that the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time wasn’t quite pleasing to some viewers since the actors chosen were not Persian. They were even saying that the actors were chosen more for the saleability of the movie rather than catching the entirety of the game. Well, I say that the actors of the movie proved to be worth it. They performed their roles well. What’s important is to capture the essence of the story, and I believe that they did it.
Nice movie, I recommend.

Did you see Iron Man and Robin Hood? Yes? Well, this film is better, simply because the story is original. I know, I know, it is based on the computer game…which I used to play ages ago…but the story portrayed in the script is classic and refreshing at the same time; the performances are natural and the stunt scenes are unbelievable. Now, what did Iron Man 2 miss and this movie excels at? Plot, and a fast action pace without being over caffeinated big bang explosions
I agree. Prince of Persia: Sands of Time movie was quite good. And I like the stunts made. Ironman kind of relied too much on the effects. But still, both movies have their good sides.
Also used to play the Game.
