How did Goldilocks effect a change in my life? That simple question holds great meaning to me. Why? Well, here’s my story.

We were at Binmaley, Pangasinan to visit our grandparents, uncles and cousins. One morning, my family decided to go to CSI The City Mall at the Lucao district in Dagupan. The main reason for going there was the internet café (Yes, we have no internet in our home at Binmaley). The people who were left at the house were my Lolo, my Lola, and my Uncle.

We were at the mall and we went our separate ways, agreeing to just meet up when we were about to go home. I went to the Internet café, and after a while went on around the mall. As I was about to meet up with my family, since the agreed time came up, I saw this Goldilocks store. I thought of buying pasalubong for my Lolo, Lola, and Uncle who were left behind. If I remember correctly, I bought Mamon with some other treats.

When we reached home, we got out of the van. I entered the house, carrying the Goldilocks plastic with Mamon with my right hand, and saw my Lolo at the dining table. I went to him, put my left hand in the plastic and pulled out one mammon. I gave it to the Lolo and said, “Lolo, pasalubong po…” He took the Mamon, smiled at me and said, “Salamat.”

I know it sounds simple. A lot of people go to Goldilocks in order to buy treats and bring them home as pasalubong. But, this one time was special for me. It was the first time that my Lolo said “Salamat” to me and smiled directly at me, little did I know that it would be the last time. My Lolo passed away just this July.

Since then, whenever I pass by a Goldilocks store, or see the Goldilocks logo, I can’t help but smile. At least I’ll have that memory of my Lolo to hold on to. And, I can say that Goldilocks has been a part of it.
